Inside the Launch: How PEAK4 and United Utilities Are Building a Culture of Performance
Wellbeing at work should not be a checkbox exercise. It should be a system.
That was the thinking behind the launch of the PEAK4 Programme with United Utilities, a partnership built to turn insight into action across an entire workforce.
A Day Built Around People
The launch opened with a clear message from Grant Batty on the value of investing in people and wellbeing, setting the tone for the day ahead. It was led throughout by an outstanding graduate team.
Banners across the venue carried PEAK4's central promise: expert-led, elite-level health and wellbeing support, reframed for the workplace. The idea was simple. Bring a prevention first mindset from elite sport into everyday working life. Spot risk early. Support people better. Sustain performance for the long term.
The room reflected the full breadth of United Utilities' workforce. Office-based colleagues sat alongside frontline operational staff in hi-vis workwear, a reminder that this programme is built for the whole organisation, not just desk-based teams.
The Four Pillars of Performance
Branding throughout the venue introduced the four pillars underpinning the programme, including Recover and Fuel alongside performance and focus. Together, these pillars frame wellbeing as a set of interconnected daily habits rather than a single intervention.
The PEAK4 Programme is structured around four pillars: Perform, Recover, Fuel and Focus, designed to build sustainable performance habits across a workforce.
Hydrometrics: The Data Behind the Programme
At the centre of the launch was Hydrometrics, United Utilities' own initiative exploring how health data on sleep, recovery and strain can support healthier ways of working.
This data feeds directly into the PEAK4 app, introduced to participants on the day. The app greets each user personally, surfaces wellbeing insights such as the link between strong social connections and better mental and physical health, and tracks Vitals Trends across sleep, recovery and strain over rolling 7 and 30 day windows.
On stage, the PEAK4 team demonstrated the WHOOP wearable, the physical centrepiece of the programme, while a colleague walked the room through live dashboard analytics showing how individual data rolls up into meaningful, organisation-wide insight.
Inside the Launch Day
The day combined onboarding, expert insight and practical tools, all built around one goal: helping participants establish sustainable performance habits from day one.
- WHOOP device setup, giving every participant the tools to track their own sleep, recovery and strain.
- Hands-on introduction to the PEAK4 app, including personalised insights and the Vitals Trends dashboard.
- Access to the Learning Locker, supporting ongoing development beyond the launch itself.
- An interactive movement and stretching session led by international yoga and sleep coach Zoe MacPhail.
- Live dashboard walkthroughs showing participants how their data translates into insight.
- One to one and small group conversations, with strong engagement throughout the day.
- An interactive session with Apeiron Golf, adding a competitive edge to the day's learning.
- On camera reflections from participants sharing their first impressions of the programme.
Built on Collaboration
A launch of this scale reflects genuine partnership. Thank you to the PEAK4 expert team, the wider graduate team and Apeiron Golf for helping bring the day to life.
What Comes Next
This is the start of an ongoing journey for United Utilities employees. Through the app, WHOOP data, the Learning Locker and continued support from the PEAK4 team, the programme is designed to build the habits and foundations needed for lasting performance.
